MBJC of coming terms

Hi, Dear Mathbio fans,

We will have an organization meeting next monday. I would
like everyone to think a little about what we would like to
do this term. We should do something BOTH educational to
everyone (meaning begining students as well as old-timer
MathBiologists) and can help people to get into exciting
current research.

Here are my 2cents: I think we should spend time on the
recent burst of research in the area of metabolic/regulatory
network modeling. There are several papers by S. Leibler
in Nature and Science deserve some scrutiny. There are also
the work of Dennis Bray, Adam Arkin who are on the forfront
of cell modeling. To the mathematical methodology, there are
several papers by D.T. Gillespie; and of course, the work from
UW by Odell et al.

Along this line, there are several books: T.L. Hill's book
on biochemical cycle kinetics; D.T. Gillespie's book on
Markov processes, and David Fell's book on metabolism, and
Goldbeter's book on Biochemical Oscillations.

Some of you might want to check out a few of these references
so we can have a better idea on these topics.

Cheers,
Hong Qian
