[AMath 383] Next Homework Assignment
Dear class members,
I was disappointed that our class was displaced by the alarm. I hope I
wasn't too premature in declaring class cancelled. At some point before
12:10, the road was opened again, so if we had waited it out we might
have had at least an abbreviated class. Please read the class lecture
notes so that we can at least try to catch up a little.
I was really hoping to go over a variety of techniques that might be
useful in analyzing simple (2x2) systems of autonomous differential
equations. I didn't have a homework assignment that would be due next
Wednesday, because our discussion of the Iwo Jima example didn't really
provide enough material to practice on homework.
A new homework assignment will be given next week. It will be due on
Monday or Wednesday before Thanksgiving. (I have to rethink this
because of the class cancellation--it was intended to be due Monday.)
Then there will be one more assignment after Thanksgiving.
As far as quizzes, I don't think we will complete 20 different concepts
by the end of the term. So the grading schedule posted in the syllabus
will be modified to take this into account. I expect that the listed
grade drops (originally in terms of a percentage) will really be in
terms of the number of concepts never passed.
Sincerely,
D. Brian Walton
