Off-campus restaurants
Close to campus
The University District is a highly diverse area with a number of different
dining options to choose from. There are two main clusters of restaurants close
to the UW campus, one to the west of campus along or near University Way (known
locally as "The Ave"), the other to the northeast in University Village (an
open air shopping mall). Both locations are each within a 10-15 minute walk,
though University Village is slightly more distant. (Also, the hill between the
University Village and the main campus is quite steep.)
Restaurants on The Ave cater to students, while University Village has a
slightly more upscale atmosphere. The food quality, however, is not much
different. You should expect to spend $10 (including tax and gratuity) on lunch
in University Village, and perhaps a couple of dollars less on The Ave.
A partial, non-endorsed list of restaurants near the University is found here.
Elsewhere in Seattle
Seattle has a lot to offer when it comes to fine dining. Seafood and/or Asian
cuisine are often outstanding. Below are some non-comprehensive and non-endorsed
