Fluid Mechanics Journal Club

The Fluid Mechanics Journal Club (FMJC) meets once a week to discuss various topics relevant in the field of fluid mechanics. The club allows members to explore various topics of interest in an informal atmosphere. Topics for discussion will be chosen according to the interests of those who are involved. The FMJC consists of various activities including journal readings, student presentations, seminars, and various mini-lectures. Anyone interested in fluid mechanics is welcome to join. The Winter 1998 Quarter club focused on various aspects of geophysical fluid dynamics including the Boussinesq approximation, Rossby waves, internal gravity waves, and magneto-hydrodynamics. The Spring 1998 Quarter club discussed the classical formulation of turbulence. Currently, we are looking at various aspects of Quasi-Geostrophic (QG) Theory.

The Mailing List:

The Fluid Mechanics Journal Club has it own mailing list which stores all messages sent to the FMJC account and places them on a homepage accessible to anyone interested.
The mailing list is designed to let members of the Fluid Mechanics Journal Club discuss meeting times, presentations, and possible topics as well as create a forum for all interested to ask any questions related to fluid mechanics. Any comments, suggestions, or questions about this homepage or the club in general should also be addressed to the mailing list address.
