Graduate Student Payscale for Applied Mathematics

As of 2006-2007, the payscale for graduate students in the Applied Mathematics department at the university of Washington is the following*:
  • $1595 - for students without a masters degree and who have not passed the preliminary exam
  • $1709 - for students who either have a masters degree or who have passed the preliminary exam. **
  • $2045 - for students who are VIGRE students, note that if you teach a quarter you will get the usual TA/RA salary above
  • $3000 - for students who are G-K12 students
  • $1767 - for students who are pre-doctoral lecturers, this is different then the summer teaching amount (same amount of money for each quarter, just spread over a different number of weeks)
  • These figures are amounts per month before taxes. Taxes may differ between students and other fees may figure in to some of the final pay checks. For any questions please see Keshanie Dissanayake.

    * - These figures are for TA/RA amounts, these may differ if you are on a grant or other alternative source of funding.
    ** - The payraise after taking the preliminary exam occurs the next academic year (fall).
