Professor Kevorkian's current research concerns the use of multiple scale expansions to study the propagation of weakly nonlinear waves with rapid spatial fluctuations. Typically such problems arise in the description of wave propagation in heterogeneous media, and one is interested in the behavior of the solution over long times and in the far field.
